Read smashed a superb ton in his last appearance for Notts
Captain Chris Read is desperate to beat Gloucestershire in the Friends Provident Trophy quarter-final and lead Nottinghamshire all the way to Lord's.
Notts head to Bristol on Tuesday in confident mood after a fine win over Hampshire in the County Championship.
Read told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We're two games from Lord's and it's one thing I've been harping on about for a couple of years since I became captain.
"I'd love to get to Lord's and play a final there and win a one-day trophy."
Director of cricket Mick Newell is also eager to go all the way after the disappointment of going out at the same stage last year.
He added: "We had a quarter-final against Durham last year and lost that by one wicket.
"This is a huge opportunity to get to Lord's but to go to Gloucester, who are a very effective one-day side with an effective one-day coach in John Bracewell, is a big challenge for us.
"Most of our younger players certainly won't have experienced a Lord's final and it's a great thing we want to achieve."
BBC Radio Nottingham's team will bring you ball-by-ball commentary from the County Ground in Bristol from 1200 BST at www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham
