Notts face Leicestershire in their season opener |
Nottinghamshire cricketers have been put through their paces by Nottingham Rugby Club as they aim to start the season at the peak of fitness. New signings Jason and Ali Brown joined team-mates in the training session led by director of rugby Glenn Delaney. Director of cricket Mick Newell said: "It's important we add variety to the fitness work we do as well as spending long periods on our cricket skills." His side face Leicestershire in the Friends Provident Trophy on 19 April. Newell added: "The players have reported back in good condition and we're seeing the benefits of the work that they have done in the off-season. "Glenn Delaney commented on how much fitter our players were compared with what he saw when he first worked with us two years ago. "That's a result of having the players on 12-month contracts and the work that our fitness coach Kevin Paxton has done over the past year." Nottinghamshire will finalise their pre-season preparations with a five-day trip to Portugal before beginning outdoor net sessions at Trent Bridge on 30 March.
