Brown made 129 first-class appearances for Northants |
Former Northants off-spinner Jason Brown has signed for Nottinghamshire on a two year-deal. The 34-year-old, who was released by Northants in September, took 414 first-class wickets during his 14-year career at Wantage Road. He told the club website: "There's going to be scope for me to play some good cricket at Notts. "I bowled a lot with Graeme Swann at Northants and we seemed to compliment each other." Brown added: "I'm pleased that he is getting opportunities with England and I can step in for Notts whenever he is unavailable." | We expect Graeme Swann and Samit Patel to be involved with England next year and that will provide opportunities for Jason |
Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said: "We expect Graeme and Samit Patel to be involved with England next year and that will provide opportunities for Jason. "He's an experienced player and there is a possibility we'll deploy three spinners at times in one-day formats." Brown made his first-class debut for Northants against Yorkshire in 1996. He was selected for England to tour Sri Lanka in 2001, but only played in one warm-up game. Notts recently lost the services of fellow spinner Rob Ferley, who rejected a new deal at Trent Bridge and has since rejoined Kent.
