Ferley struggled for a place in the Notts team last season
Nottinghamshire spinner Rob Ferley has rejected the offer of a new two-year deal at Trent Bridge.
The former Kent player is thought to want to move closer to London and is expected to announce a deal with a rival first-class county this week.
Ferley, 26, struggled for a starting place at Notts, often missing out to Graeme Swann and Samit Patel.
"I enjoyed my time at Notts and if I had been playing regularly I would have committed to the club," he said.
Ferley made just 10 appearances in all competitions last season, seven of them in the Twenty20 Cup.
"It wasn't an easy decision to make but I'm not going to be the number one spinner with Graeme Swann and Samit Patel around," he added.
Notts director of cricket Mick Newell said: "Rob would have had more of a role to play next year but he is joining a club where he can be a first-choice spinner.
"He never let us down but his opportunities were limited by Samit Patel's development. We wish him well and all the best for the future."
