Relegated Notts have strengthened their squad by recruiting Kent left-arm spinner Robert Ferley. The 24-year-old former England U-19 player began his Kent career aged 16, taking 54 wickets in 26 first-class games, but played only twice in 2006.
"The consistency of Min Patel is the only reason he hasn't figured more," Notts director Mike Newell said.
"He is good enough to give serious competition to Graeme Swann and we may well often go in with two spinners."
