Pick replaces Phil DeFreitas as bowling coach at Trent Bridge |
Nottinghamshire have appointed Andy Pick as their new bowling coach. Pick, 45, is a former team-mate of director of cricket Mick Newell and was a mainstay of the Notts attack during a 17-year career at Trent Bridge. He replaces Phil DeFreitas and will combine his role with his current job in charge of the England under-19 side. "The brief is to work with the younger bowlers and develop their understanding of cricket and the technicalities of their actions," Pick said. "The more experienced bowlers will be self-sufficient but I'll be on hand for them when they need me. "I've worked with Mark Footitt and Luke Fletcher when they were part of the England under-19s setup and I'm aware of Andy Carter and some of the academy bowlers in the Notts set-up who I will work closely with." Pick, who has worked at Notts in a consultancy role in previous seasons, spent a year as head coach of Canada in the build-up to the 2007 World Cup.
