Pick is taking a break from England under-19 duties |
Canada coach Andy Pick is determined to show that his side are not at the World Cup to make up the numbers.
Canada put in a good performance in their opening warm-up match against Pakistan on Tuesday, despite being defeated by 77 runs.
And the minnows are in Group C with England, New Zealand and Kenya.
"We might beat England and New Zealand two or three times out of 100, but why not the first time we play them?" Pick told the BBC Sport website.

"We have to believe that or we are wasting our time being here. We do have the players who possess the skills to cause problems.
"If a side like England or New Zealand are under par and not playing their best, you never know."
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer was full of praise for his opponents after their encounter in Trinidad: "Canada have improved no end since the 2003 World Cup.
"I think they fielded and bowled very well. There is a huge improvement in all the ICC associate sides."
The Canadians have just two professionals in their 15-man squad, including skipper and former South Australia and Victoria all-rounder John Davison.
Davison shot to prominence at the 2003 World Cup by scoring the fastest century in the history of the competition, a stunning 111 from 76 balls against West Indies.
For good measure, he added the third-fastest fifty, smashing four sixes in 75 from 62 balls against New Zealand.
Canada start their campaign on 14 March against Kenya before playing England on 18 March and then New Zealand on 22 March.
