Prince averages 75 for South Africa in the first three Tests against England |
Nottinghamshire have signed South African international batsman Ashwell Prince for the remainder of the season. Current overseas player Adam Voges has to return to Australia and Notts had lined up VVS Laxman as his replacement. But complications with Notts having Indian Cricket League players prevented him from arriving at Trent Bridge. Director of cricket Mick Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It helps to be playing cricket and him playing in England is ideal." Prince scored two centuries in the first three Tests against England but has been left out of the South African one-day squad. Newell added: "There are four important four-day matches and four important one-day matches to be played while he's with us." Prince will make his Notts debut in the NatWest Pro40 floodlit fixture against Durham Dynamos at Trent Bridge on Tuesday 19 August.
