Nottinghamshire have released long-serving bowler Gareth Clough after nine seasons with the club. Clough, 30, will now concentrate on studying for a degree in sport and exercise science, but says he may consider a return to county cricket. "I haven't ruled out playing elsewhere next season," said Clough, who was contracted to play one-day cricket. "But personal training and fitness coaching also interests me and I'm keeping my options open." Clough added: "I've enjoyed a lot of good times with Notts and the Twenty20 Finals day at Trent Bridge stands out as the highlight. | With the expansion on Twenty20, there could well be a county out there that needs a specialist like Gareth |
"Notts is a great club and Trent Bridge is a fantastic ground and I've made a lot of friends during my time here." Director of cricket Mick Newell added: "Gareth has done very well for us in limited over cricket and he played a part in a dramatic improvement in our performances in the one-day competitions. "He's at an age where second-team cricket would be of no benefit to him but, with the expansion on Twenty20, there could well be a county out there that needs a specialist like Gareth. "He's a great lad and he's done well for us and we wish him every success in the future."
