Vaas is at Northants until the end of this season's Twenty20 campaign |
Northamptonshire batsman Alex Wakely says that overseas signing Chaminda Vaas has been hugely influential. The Sri Lankan impressed in the Friends Provident t20 clash against Durham, hitting 73 and taking 3-23. Wakely told BBC Radio Northampton: "Things clicked [against Durham] and hopefully that's the spur to kick on for the rest of the tournament. "Vaas has been unbelievable for us. Off the field as well, you can talk to him and he gives you everything." Northants lie joint fifth in the Twenty20 North Group, one point off a top-four spot that would see them reach the quarter-finals. "We said it was a must-win game [against Durham]," said Wakely. "We're right back in it with our next three games at home, and the crowd have been brilliant."
