Wakely has enjoyed an extended run with Northants |
Jack Brooks and Alex Wakely have signed two-year deals with Northants to keep them with the Steelbacks until 2011. Wakely, 20, has scored 367 first-class runs so far this season, including a century against Glamorgan. Brooks has had shorter spells in the first team, but has consistently taken wickets for the second XI, making his first-class debut against Australia. Head coach David Capel told the club website: "I'm pleased that Alex has signed for two years." "He's a young cricketer who is improving all the time and we are looking forward to him being here, furthering his career and hopefully becoming a top cricketer in the English game. "Jack's emergence this season has been really good for the club too. We fancied that he was going to be a good bowler when we saw him last year in the 2nd XI. "We haven't been disappointed with what we have seen of him in first-class cricket."
