Harvey helped Northants top their Twenty20 Cup qualifying group |
Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey has been ruled out of Northants' Twenty20 Cup quarter-final against Hampshire on Wednesday with suspected swine flu. Harvey, 37, was signed by the Steelbacks specifically for the competition, and played a key role in their successful qualifying campaign. "Ian is not strong enough to play," said Northants coach David Capel. "He is under quarantine for five days and we want to win now to get the old man to the finals day." "It's what everyone in the squad wants," he added. Northants are bidding to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time, but will face a tough challenge from the newly-crowned Friends Provident Trophy champions Hampshire.
