Northants captain Nicky Boje wants his side to demonstrate, in this year's Pro40 campaign, that they are more than just Twenty20 experts.
The Steelbacks open against Derbyshire Phantoms and Leicestershire Foxes after failing to win a game last year.
Boje told BBC Radio Northampton: "We've had a disappointing 50-over competition early in the season, and a terrible Pro40 season last year.
"We've got some points to prove to ourselves and our supporters."
Northamptonshire travel to Gloucestershire for a County Championship Division Two encounter, and host Australia for a three-day match, before their Twenty20 Cup quarter-final against Hampshire Hawks.
"We need to start winning games in the four-day competition. We've got close to a full squad, so there's no excuses not to play well."
