Middlesex close to double signing

Angus Fraser
Fraser says Middlesex will have all the seamers they need after this deal

Middlesex are on the verge of signing two new bowlers as they continue their squad rebuilding for next season.

Director of cricket Angus Fraser told BBC London 94.9: "We're in contact with two quite experienced fast bowlers, and we're expecting them to sign.

"We've got pretty good commitments from both of those."

However, Fraser has confirmed that he will not be bringing former England bowler Alex Tudor to Lord's, following his release from Surrey.

Fraser said he had held talks with the 32-year-old, who played in 10 Tests for England in an injury-blighted career.

He said: "Alex has made contact with me and spoken about his desire to continue playing and I hope he gets the opportunity elsewhere.

"But with the two fast bowlers we've hopefully got coming in, along with Tim Murtagh, Steven Finn, Danny Evans, Robert Williams and Gareth Berg, and we've signed a young lad from Sunbury called Tobias Roland-Jones, we've then got the seamers on our staff that I want.

"All in all, I'm pretty happy with the way the recruitment has gone this year."

Last week, Surrey opener Scott Newman opted to join Middlesex on a three-year contract.
