Matthew Hoggard was a key part of England's successful 2005 Ashes team |
Leicestershire's head coach Tim Boon said the signing of ex-England paceman Matthew Hoggard is a sign the club is moving forward. Boon told BBC Radio Leicester: "The fact we can afford someone like Matthew Hoggard - I am absolutely delighted. "He's got a hard, no-nonsense approach and with all his knowledge and international experience to call upon I just felt he had the wow factor." Hoggard has agreed a three-year contract with the Foxes. The 32-year-old was released by Yorkshire at the end of last season despite being their top wicket-taker. He was being chased by several other sides, including Sussex and Essex, and has been named Leicestershire captain. Hoggard, an Ashes winner in 2005, lost his Test place during the tour of New Zealand in March 2008.
