Leicestershire are hoping to re-sign Australia batsman Brad Hodge, reports BBC Radio Leicester.

Head coach Tim Boon is looking at a number of overseas players but 34-year-old Hodge, who spent two summers at Grace Road, tops the list.

Leicestershire chief executive David Smith said: "Brad was extremely successful here and that's who we would like to come back to the club."

Hodge joined in 2003 and helped the Foxes win the Twenty20 Cup in 2004.

Smith added: "I'm really keen that we're competitive in Twenty20, it's our box-office cricket. We want a good batsman to come in, someone with a good Twenty20 record."

Hodge has also played for Durham and Lancashire, with whom he spent three years after joining in 2005.
