Lancashire clinch Hodge signing
Brad Hodge
He is a proven run scorer who will be a great asset to the squad
Coach Mike Watkinson
Lancashire have signed Australian batsman Brad Hodge as one of their overseas players for next season.

Hodge, who is currently on tour in India, has agreed a two-year contract.

He moves north from Leicestershire after turning down a new deal at Grace Road despite leading them to victory in last season's Twenty20 Cup final.

"Lancashire is a big club and I have always enjoyed Old Trafford along with good experiences of the county from my league cricket days," Hodge commented.

The 29-year-old will fill the club's second overseas vacancy alongside Sri Lanka spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan.

"Obviously the priority is a return to Division One of the Championship and I look forward to teaming up with Murali to hopefully achieve this goal," he added.

Hodge, who helped Victoria win Australia's Pura Cup last winter, scored 1,548 Championship runs during the summer at an average of almost 62.

He has been a regular member of the Australia A team, but has yet to play Test or one-day international cricket.
