Australian batsman Brad Hodge is the new captain of Leicestershire. He replaces former England all-rounder Phil DeFreitas, who stepped down on Monday after 20 months in the role and Darren Maddy is the new vice-captain.
DeFreitas said: "We have reached the halfway point in the season and I believe this is the right time to hand the captaincy over to someone else.
"I would like to wish my successor all the very best. He can be sure of my help and support."
Leicestershire director of cricket James Whitaker said: "We are delighted that Brad has agreed to take on the captaincy.
"As vice captain he is the natural successor to Daffy, and I am confident his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will help us in our quest to get to where we want to be. I am excited about working with Brad."
Hodge's first game in charge will be the Twenty20 Cup clash with Durham at Grace Road on Wednesday night.
