Foxes sign Windies paceman Lawson

Jermaine Lawson
Lawson has played 13 Tests for the West Indies

Leicestershire have strengthened their bowling attack by bringing in the West Indies paceman Jermaine Lawson.

The 26-year-old international has played 13 Tests and 13 one day internationals for the Windies.

In the past Lawson has had problems with his action, but Foxes head coach Tim Boon told BBC Radio Leicester the bowler was a good siging.

"I'm pretty confident he's fine. He's been bowling for Jamaica. He's going to be a valuable member to our team."

Lawson broke onto the international stage by taking 6-3 against Bangladesh in his third Test.

However Lawson was reported for a suspect action in May 2003 by the International Cricket Council.

He returned to Test cricket a year later after working on his delivery.

Lawson has been signed a Kolpak player, where as "a citizen of a country with an associate agreement" with the European Union he has the same rights as a European worker and does not count as an overseas player.
