Langeveldt was South Africa's joint highest World Cup wicket-taker |
Leicestershire are in discussions with South Africa paceman Charl Langeveldt over a short-term move to Grace Road. The Foxes need cover for a three-week spell as seamer RP Singh is due to link up with India next week for a one-day series against Bangladesh.
"We're in talks with Langeveldt and he's keen to come here," Leicestershire spokesman Nick Lucy told BBC Sport.
Sri Lanka pace bowler Lasith Malinga was one of the players they looked at - but Langeveldt is now poised to join.
The 32-year-old was South Africa's joint highest wicket-taker at the World Cup, claiming 14 wickets at an average of 25.78.
Singh is due to depart after Sunday's Friends Provident Trophy game against Worcestershire at New Road.
If terms are agreed with Langeveldt, he could fly in on Sunday with a view to making his debut in the County Championship against Gloucestershire at Bristol next Wednesday.
His only previous spell in English county cricket came with Somerset in 2005.
