India paceman Singh joins Foxes
Rudra Pratap Singh
Singh has taken nine Test wickets at an average of 38.33
Leicestershire have concluded their pre-season tour of Asia by signing India seam bowler Rudra Pratap Singh.

The 21-year-old, better known as RP, becomes the Foxes' second overseas player for 2007, alongside Pakistan leg-spinner/batsman Mansoor Amjad.

Club coach Tim Boon said: "The prospect of RP Singh linking with Stuart Broad to spearhead our attack is exciting.

"He comes highly recommended by Greg Chappell, has a classic left arm action and is deceptively quick."

Singh just missed out on a place in India's World Cup squad after playing two Tests and 20 one-day internationals, and is tipped for a big future.

He took nine wickets in his two Test appearances against Pakistan and was man of the match in only his third one-day international, taking four wickets against Sri Lanka.

Boon continued: "There is tremendous competition among left arm seamers in India with Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra, and it's a measure of his potential that he is up there in contention.

"The experience of playing in English conditions will help him to fulfil that potential."
