Loye averages over 40 in first-class innings |
Lancashire batsman Mal Loye has opted to return to Northants after seven years at Old Trafford. The 37-year-old, who has scored 10,603 runs during his time with the county, could not be persuaded to stay despite Lancashire's attempts to convince him. "It became apparent that irrespective of the terms of our contract offer to Mal his decision to move on had been made," said director Mike Watkinson. Loye made his debut for Northants in 1991 before moving on 12 years later. He made an immediate impact with consecutive centuries in his first two innings for the Red Rose County and was awarded a benefit season in 2008. | 606: DEBATE |
He won an England call-up for the triangular one-day series against Australia and New Zealand in January 2006, making seven appearances and averaging 20.28 runs. "Mal has made great contributions for Lancashire both on and off the field and I wish him well for the years ahead," added Watkinson.
