Kent wicketkeeper Geraint Jones has been awarded a benefit year in 2012. The 35-year-old made his Kent debut in 2001 and has gone on to play 156 first class games, taking 478 catches and making 34 stumpings. He told the club's website: "It is an honour to be awarded this by my county. I am very proud of being a Kent player for over 10 years and am looking forward to a successful 2012." Jones took over the vice-captaincy from Martin van Jaarsveld earlier this week. He was part of England's 2005 Ashes-winning side and played 34 Test matches. Kent director of dricket Paul Farbrace said: "He has been, and continues to be, a very loyal and committed person, both on and off the field. "He deserves this accolade for some fantastic performances and also his continued off-the -ield support for the club in all aspects."
