Pakistan bowler Wahab Riaz hopes for a return to Kent

Kent seamer Wahab Riaz has said he would like the opportunity to return to the county, after his spell at Canterbury ended last week.

The Pakistan bowler took 42 wickets for Kent in all competitions, including a hat-trick on his home debut in the FLt20 competition.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "I had a lovely time here and I'd love to come back."

Riaz took four wickets in his final match - Kent's 69-run win over Middlesex in the County Championship.

He added: "It was really fun. The guys here are really nice. Farby [director of cricket Paul Farbrace] is a lovely guy. My team-mates have been supportive and looked after me."

Riaz was initially signed to play for Kent in Twenty20 but turned out for five County Championship matches and three CB40 fixtures as well.

However, his most influential performances came in the T20 competition, taking 20 wickets in 13 matches and scoring crucial runs in the lower order.

Farbrace praised the paceman for his all-round contribution.

I can't speak highly enough of him as a person and as a cricketer and hopefully one day he'll be back wearing a Kent shirt

Kent coach Paul Farbrace

"He's put in a great shift for us. He's been outstanding.

"He's a high-class bowler and we've been very fortunate to have him with Kent this year.

"When overseas players come to your club you want them to get stuck in. Not only has he got stuck in but he's won games for us.

"Some of his spells at the end of the innings were absolutely fantastic for us and they got us through to the T20 quarter-finals.

"I can't speak highly enough of him as a person and as a cricketer and hopefully one day he'll be back wearing a Kent shirt."
