Paceman Coles has been missing for nine weeks

Kent bowler Matt Coles is relieved to be back in the side after missing more than two months with a foot injury.

The paceman damaged a metatarsal, which forced him to miss the majority of the FL t20 campaign.

He has returned for the County Championship clash with Surrey, hitting 16 runs as Kent made 266 on day one.

Coles told BBC Radio Kent: "It's good to be back out there in the middle on the home ground. The injury's all good now it was frustrating."

He added: "I've been doing well in the two's (second XI) in the last couple of weeks. It was good to get out in the middle on our home ground and get a few, but not enough."

"It was annoying missing out on the Twenty20. It happens, hopefully I can stay fit for the rest of the year and do a decent job of it."
