Ntini played his 100th Test for South Africa in December |
Kent have signed South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini as their first overseas player of the summer. The 32-year-old has signed a five-week deal and will stay until Sri Lankan spin bowler Malinga Bandara arrives to replace him in late May. Ntini is a replacement for injured Australia seamer Stuart Clark. Kent team director Paul Farbrace said: "He has got a tremendous work ethic and is a similar character to Stuart Clark. Everyone is excited by his arrival." Ntini has been contracted to the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. However, like many of his compatriots, he has yet to play in any of their games. He will arrive in the country on Monday and will make his Kent debut in the County Championship match at Lancashire on Tuesday. In December, Ntini played his 100th Test, becoming the first black South African cricketer to reach that milestone. He is one of only three South Africans to take 300 Test wickets, along with Shaun Pollock and Allan Donald. BBC Radio Kent has ball-by-ball commentary of Kent v Yorkshire at bbc.co.uk/kent
