Kent coach Paul Farbrace hunts for new overseas player

Paul Farbrace wants to beef up the Kent bowling attack

Kent team director Paul Farbrace says he is scouring the globe for a bowler to replace Stuart Clark.

The Australian is unable to return to Canterbury for fitness reasons.

Farbrace told BBC Radio Kent: "I could write a book on world fast bowlers, such has been our painstaking search for the right man.

"Our search has been exhaustive because we need someone who will fit in well in the dressing-room. We won't sign someone for the sake of it."

He conceded Kent's bowling strength was weak: "We've good batting and good depth among our younger batsmen.

"But our bowling is thin, we're lacking in that department. What's crucial is that we get the right man and at the right price."

Asked to rate the chances of getting someone in time for the start of the season, he said: "I would say it's 50-50.

"We have to make sure we don't find ourselves in a situation whereby we sign someone, he settles in and then has to get on a plane to fly off elsewhere."
