Teenage Kent all-rounder Adam Ball has been added to the England Under-19 squad for next month's Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. The 16-year-old replaces Somerset's Calum Haggett, who has been withdrawn from the squad on medical advice. Kent academy director, Phil Relf, said: "Adam's inclusion is a tremendous achievement for such a young player. "It will provide him with a fabulous chance to develop his game in a highly competitive environment." Ball is a member of the England and Wales Cricket Board's fast bowling elite group and has been part of the Under-18 elite training camp this winter. ECB lead fast bowling coach Kevin Shine said: "Adam is one of the most mature young players I have met. "He is not only a talented left-arm bowler but also a very useful batsman and athletic fielder." The squad will leave for Wellington on 1 January, where they will spend a week acclimatising before heading to Christchurch for the start of the tournament. England will play warm-up matches against Papua New Guinea and New Zealand before starting their campaign against Hong Kong on 16 January.
