Geraint Jones says promotion had been their main aim this season
Kent have been promoted back to Division One of the County Championship, thanks to rivals Essex's failure to beat Glamorgan on Sunday.
The Division Two leaders now need eights points from their last two games to secure the title, just 12 months after suffering their first relegation.
Chief executive Paul Millman told BBC Radio Kent: "I think it's terrific.
"Many would say we're back to where we should be and I tend to agree with that view. It's great for the team."
Millman added: "Great credit for the coaching staff, Graham Ford in particular, and Rob Key and the players.
"It means a higher standard of cricket for all our staff next year and back into company which I think we should aspire to play with.
"Everybody was very disappointed this time last year that we came down and it was a determination everyone in the club shared that we should go back up and we've done it."
Wicketkeeper Geraint Jones added: "It was a big aim for us as a team. It came right from the top that that was our aim.
"We've produced as players and it is nice to go into the last two games knowing there is a bit of a buffer.
"I think bonus points will win us the title so that's fantastic and great for the guys.
"There's two games left and we want to make sure we win those last two, and win comfortably."
