Key believes Twenty20 crowds will continue to grow (Getty Images) |
Kent captain Rob Key has said Twenty20 cricket could become the most important form of the game. His comments followed Kent's six-wicket win over Sussex which attracted the biggest gate of the season at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. "It's only going to get bigger and bigger and I'm just so envious of the next generation of cricketers because this could be the game," said Key. "It won't rival the Premier League but it could be right up there." Key told BBC Radio Kent: "I can't explain how much fun it is to play and you sit there and think this is here to stay. | 606: DEBATE | "The days of playing in front of one man and his dog are probably gone now. You'll be playing in front of big crowds, with an electric atmosphere and it's just fantastic." Defending champions Kent continue their Twenty20 campaign against Surrey at the Oval on Friday.
