Justin Kemp missed the first four county games of the 2008 season |
Kent chief executive Paul Millman said the county were delighted with the decision to allow South African Justin Kemp to play for the county in 2008. "The worst three months of his life, Justin called it," Millman told BBC Radio Kent. "The meeting to decide his fate lasted nearly eight hours. You wonder, working in sport these days, whether you need a law degree to keep up," he added. Kemp's registration for the season was originally turned down by the ECB. They refused the South African's application, because of his participation in the rebel Indian Cricket League this summer. "Justin signed for us at the end of 2006, the new regulations only came in on 7 March 2008, and that was long after Justin had committed himself to play in the ICL," said Millman. "He's eligible immediately, and is itching to get out and play some cricket for the county."
