South African Justin Kemp is heading to the UK next week in a bid to get his failed registration appeal overturned. The England and Wales Cricket Board have refused the Kolpak player the chance of appearing for Kent this year. Kent's director of cricket Graham Ford says: "Justin is very determined to do whatever he can to get the decision turned around." The club think Kemp could have been refused because he has played in the rebel Indian Cricket League this year. | He just wants to play cricket and show the Kent supporters how good he is Kent chief executive Paul Millman | Kent chief executive Paul Millman told BBC Radio Kent: "There are lots of precedents, but what does it boil down to is that he's been a naughty boy and played in this ICL league. "Here's a guy in the prime of his career that just wants to play cricket, that's his job and we feel desperately for Justin, it's terrible. "He just wants to show everybody in Kent just how good he is," Millman added. Kent are planning to get Kemp involved in club affairs and see if they can find a way through the problem and though legal action has not been ruled out it is seen as a last resort. The ECB has discretionary powers to allow Kemp to play this summer, but club officials at Kent say that at this point the board are not using that discretion in their favour. An appeal hearing into the situation should take place in the next 28 days.
