Kyle McCallan hit 26 runs in the narrow defeat at Trent Bridge |
Ireland's stand-in captain Kyle McCallan believes Monday's one-run loss to Nottinghamshire in the FP Trophy shows they can compete with the elite. "The days of Ireland being happy losers in this competition are over," he said. "For a side as young as ours to compete as well with a team topping Division One of the County Championship is a hell of an achievement." Andrew White said it was a "very proud moment" to lead Ireland out at Trent Bridge on his 100th appearance. Ireland complete their Friends Provident Trophy campaign against Northamptonshire in Dublin on Wednesday. "We hope to go out with a bang - we've competed really well in all the games," added White.
