Jeremy Bray is back in the Ireland squad for winter training |
Ireland coach Phil Simmons has replaced a number of experienced players with teenagers in his squad for winter training which starts next month. Jeremy Bray returns but John Mooney, Kenny Carroll, Jason Molins and Dom Joyce are axed and Dave Langford-Smith is out because of business commitments.
Ireland U19 trio Gavin McKenna, Paul Stirling and James Hall are brought in.
Simmons will select his squad for the pre-season tour of the UAE and Bangladesh from the training panel.
Langford-Smith will be forced to miss the first half of the 2008 season due to his business commitments but he will attend the training sessions in an effort to maintain fitness levels.
McKenna, Stirling and Hall are rising stars with Ulster clubs.
While the majority of the squad featured for Ireland last season, there are four other players who have yet to win a full cap - Reinhardt Strydom, Phil Eaglestone, Peter Connell and Andrew Poynter.
The quartet all played for Ireland 'A' against Denmark and the MCC.
Opening batsman Bray returns to the fold after missing much of the end of the 2007 season.
The prolific left-hander opted for a rest following the team's World Cup exploits, and was not recalled to the side as a number of openers were tried, albeit with little success.
O'Brien brothers Kevin and Niall have also been chosen - the Northamptonshire wicketkeeper is named along with fellow English-based professionals Will Porterfield, Boyd Rankin, Eoin Morgan and Gary Wilson.
