Hampshire will be looking to carry their good one-day form into this weekend's Friends Provident Trophy quarter-final against Middlesex.

Giles White's side secured the home tie with a ten-wicket hammering of Nottinghamshire on Wednesday.

Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove told BBC Radio Solent: "We've got a good side at the moment, with a fantastic team spirit.

"Both sides are without a couple of key players but it will be a great game."

Hampshire captain Dimtri Mascarenhas is away on England duty so wicketkeeper Nic Pothas deputises as skipper, fast bowler Chris Tremlett has a stomach injury.

I love going back to the Rose Bowl, but I'm there to do a job on Saturday

Shaun Udal

Meanwhile Middlesex will be without Australian batting star Phil Hughes, who has returned to his homeland ahead of the Ashes.

Spinner Murali Kartik is also away at the Indian Premier League in South Africa.

The match will see Middlesex captain Shaun Udal return to his former county, with whom he spent 18 years.

He told BBC Radio Solent: "It's great to see that a lot of my friends are doing so well at Hampshire. I love going back to the Rose Bowl, but I'm there to do a job on Saturday."
