Tahir bats and bowls right-handed

Hampshire have signed Pakistan A player Imran Tahir as their overseas player for the rest of the season.

The 29-year-old leg-spinner has previous county experience with Middlesex and Yorkshire.

Tahir has an excellent first-class record with the ball, taking 240 wickets at an average of 26.

Tahir's registration has been confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board and he is available for Sunday's Pro40 match at Nottinghamshire.

Tahir had previously been playing club cricket for North Staffordshire side Moddershall.
