Hampshire snap up Katich
Simon Katich weighs up his options in the nets
Katich has signed on for his third county
Simon Katich has been confirmed as Hampshire's second overseas player for the 2003 season.

The 26-year-old has signed a one-year deal for what is effectively his third county after appearing briefly for Yorkshire in 2002 and for Durham in 2000.

Katich recently moved to New South Wales in Australian cricket in an effort to gain his place back amongst the Australian elite after losing his central contract earlier in the year.

The county have also revealed that the Rose Bowl will stage two further one-day internationals in the next four years.

The ground, which only came into use in the 2001 season, is set to host the match between South Africa and Zimbabwe this summer.

In 2004, the game between West Indies and New Zealand has been pencilled in as well, along with Pakistan versus Sri Lanka in 2006.

Meanwhile, former Zimbabwe all-rounder Neil Johnson has offered his services as a replacement for Shane Warne who will miss part of the season due to international committments.

Johnson, who played for the county in the last two years told BBC Radio Solent that he would love to return if needed.
