They will be leaving the Rose Bowl at the end of the season, along with fast bowler James Schofield and spinner Irfan Shah. All-rounder White, who made his Hampshire debut in 1994, has decided to retire from the game. The 30-year-old scored more than 6,000 first-class runs for the county. It was as a leg-spin bowler, however, that Australian Shane Warne, tipped him two years ago as a potential Test player. White's departure comes, ironically, only two days after Warne was appointed as Hampshire skipper for the next two seasons. Batsman Laney graduated to the Hampshire first team in 1995 but has struggled to fulfil his potential in recent seasons. He will look to re-launch his career at a new club, with Gloucestershire expected to be among those interested in signing him. |
