Gidman has been captain at Gloucestershire for two seasons |
Gloucestershire skipper Alex Gidman is confident the side can succeed in next season's Clydesdale Bank 40. The county welcome Glamorgan and Unicorns to Bristol in their opening fixtures and Gidman believes they could improve on their 2009 semi-final exit. "For two seasons in a row we've played very well in that format, reaching a semi-final and getting good points in our group last summer," he said. "We know how to perform in the CB 40. There is every reason for confidence." Gidman added: "With no disrespect to those teams, I would expect to pick up maximum points from those matches and get the campaign off to a good start. | I'm very much looking forward to 40-over cricket next season Gloucs skipper Alex Gidman |
"We're going to have a very energetic and enthusiastic one-day team, and I'm very much looking forward to 40-over cricket next season." Nottinghamshire, Essex, Somerset and Lancashire make up the remainder of the sides in group C, however, and Gidman admitted the competition would get harder. "We are in a very tough group, but if I were to pick two teams we would have a good chance against it is those [first] two."
