McCarter first played age group cricket for Ireland at Under-13 level

Gloucestershire have handed academy trio Graeme McCarter, Michael Beard and Craig Miles summer contracts for 2011.

All-rounder Beard and Ireland Under-19 paceman McCarter, both 18, will be full-time in 2012, and 16-year-old right-arm pace bowler Miles in 2013.

Director of cricket John Bracewell said: "I am very excited about these signings. It's great to see our academy continue to produce these players.

"The enthusiasm and determination of these players will be a great asset."

He added: "Their eagerness to learn and prove themselves on the professional stage should result in some exciting cricket.

"We are all looking forward to witnessing these players on their journey as they develop their skills."
