Glos seek 20,000-seater stadium

View of the proposed stadium

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has submitted plans to develop their Bristol home at Nevil Road into a 20,000-seat stadium.

The club are hoping this will enable them to retain their status as a one-day international venue beyond 2011.

The application put into Bristol City Council includes improved media and conference facilities along with upgraded public gym and swimming pool.

Gloucestershire last played host to an England match back in May.

The county believe improved facilities could help them be part of English football's 2018 World Cup bid, as a potential training site if Bristol were named one of the host cities.
