Lewis asks batsmen for more runs

Jonathan Lewis
Jonathan Lewis has taken over 900 wickets in all cricket for Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire seam bowler Jon Lewis says poor batting has been responsible for the side's recent poor results.

Kent, Derbyshire and Northants have beaten Gloucestershire in their last three County Championship matches.

Lewis told BBC Gloucestershire: "We've scored under 200 in five of our last six innings. We need runs on the board.

"If we continue to bowl as well as we have been we will win games, but we need totals to give us a chance of getting results."

Gloucestershire topped Division Two of the championship in the early part of the season, but have now slid down the table.

Lewis added : "We played some poor cricket at Cheltenham, which was disappointing. I know the guys are working hard to improve their game and it's a shame we can't come up with the goods at the moment."
