Porterfield impressed during his debut season with Gloucestershire |
Gloucestershire's Irish batsman William Porterfield has signed a new, improved two-year contract at Nevil Road. The 24-year-old from Londonderry hit 718 runs, including seven 50, in 12 County Championship matches in his debut season - at an average of 32.63. "I am really pleased to be offered an extra two years," said Porterfield. "I am looking forward to building on what has been a good first season for me. "This is where my future lies. I hope the next two years will be successful." Gloucestershire team mentor Jack Russell said: "Will has proved himself as a top cricketer and will be a huge asset to the club. "He is a great lad and well respected in the dressing room. He's the type of person you'd want next to you in the trenches. "The players and coaching staff are delighted he has extended his contract."
