Allenby joined Glamorgan from Leicestershire in 2009

Glamorgan have received a boost with the news that all-rounder Jim Allenby has pledged his future to the county.

The 28-year-old will remain with the Welsh club until the end of the 2012 season, with an agreed option of a further one-year extension.

Australian-born Allenby scored 1,432 runs last season and captured 53 wickets in all forms of the game.

"Last season was a successful one for me and I hope that 2011 will be a successful one for the team," he added.

His decision to stay at Glamorgan follows the appointment of Matthew Mott as head coach and South African Alviro Petersen as captain.

"I have enjoyed my time at Glamorgan and look forward to working with Matthew Mott and Alviro Petersen," said Allenby.

Allenby joined Glamorgan initially on loan from Leicestershire in August 2009 before signing a three-year contract with the Swalec Stadium club.

However doubts were raised about his future with Glamorgan following the departure of key figures at the club last autumn.

Matthew Maynard resigned as director of cricket in November after Petersen was appointed as captain without his blessing.

Former captain Jamie Dalrymple and president Peter Walker also quit the Welsh club.

Batsman Tom Maynard has handed in his notice to the Welsh team following his father Matthew's controversial departure.

New captain Petersen has had talks with Maynard trying to persuade him not to leave the Swalec Stadium.
