Mark Cosgrove was voted Glamorgan's 2010 player of the season

Mark Cosgrove says that if Glamorgan want him next season then there is no other county he would rather play for.

The left-handed batsman, 26, was voted the Welsh county's player of the year last season and says he is keen to return to his Glamorgan "home".

The Australian told BBC Sport Wales that Glamorgan director of cricket Matthew Maynard also wants him back.

"It's been a long process and hopefully one that can get cleared up reasonably soon," Cosgrove said.

"Hopefully we'll get that sorted in a couple of weeks.

"I've talked to Matt a few times and he's pretty keen to sign me up, so hopefully we can iron out a couple of creases as soon as we can it'd be great.

"I talk to Matthew only because basically he's my coach and he gives me a ring, or I'll ring him just to keep in touch and see how the boys are going.

"It's always been that way, I've always talked to Matt and we've become really good mates.

"Glamorgan's where I've played all my seasons. I love playing there, I love the people around there and the fans have been fantastic towards me, so I couldn't ask for a better home."

Cosgrove has impressed back in his native Australia for Tasmania at the start of their domestic season, averaging 65 in first-class games including a fine 159 in their Sheffield Shield win over Victoria.

He has been batting at number five in four-day games for Tasmania while still opening in shorter forms of the game, the role he fulfils for Glamorgan in northern hemisphere seasons.

"It's gone really well, it's been fantastic being down here," Cosgrove said.

"The boys have welcomed me in really well just like the Glamorgan boys and let me play cricket how I like it.

Last season Glamorgan suffered disappointment when they missed out on promotion to Division One after a five-year absence by drawing with Derbyshire in their final game.

Opener Cosgrove made 1,187 runs in first-class cricket that campaign, plus 959 in one-day cricket, pipping Tom Maynard and Jim Allenby to the player of the year award.
