Adam Shantry & David Harrison to miss Glamorgan opener

Glamorgan cricket club are hoping new members to the team will help them shine this year

Seamers David Harrison and Adam Shantry will both miss Glamorgan's first County Championship match of the season versus Sussex in Division Two on Friday.

Right-arm paceman Harrison suffered a thigh strain in pre-season training while medium-pacer Shantry has a minor knock to a leg.

"It's disappointing for Harrison as he was going well in pre-season," said Glamorgan bowling coach Steve Watkin.

"But it's a chance for a younger boy to show us what they can do."

Young Chris Ashling, who made his first class debut last season, should replace him in the bowling line-up while Dean Cosker or Huw Waters could also be drafted in by coach Matthew Maynard.

"Chris has got good pace and will do some good damage on lower wickets," added Watkin.
