James Harris played for England Lions against Australia last summer
Teenager James Harris took 4-68 as Glamorgan had the upper hand on the first day of the County Championship season against Sussex in Cardiff.
Harris, who spent 10 days at Dennis Lillee's bowling academy in the winter, helped dismiss the visitors for 284.
Dean Cosker (3-43) and James Allenby (2-53) were also amongst the wickets.
Robin Martin-Jenkins top scored with 65, batting for 47 overs to help Sussex recover from 153-6, in their first game in Division Two since 2001.
Glamorgan captain Jamie Dalrymple decided to bowl after winning the toss, and Sussex initially made a good start thanks to 43 from Michael Yardy.
But Harris soon began to take control with the ball, dismissing Yardy, Chris Nash and Joe Gatting as the visitors were 111-3 at lunch.
It was Allenby's turn to take the limelight after the interval, getting rid of both Murray Goodwin (30) and Luke Wright (34) in the space of three overs.
Andrew Hodd (37) played a part in a mini recovery with Martin-Jenkins, putting on 62 for the seventh wicket.
But, once Chris Ashling got rid of Hodd, wickets fell at regular intervals thanks to Cosker.
He claimed the wickets of James Anyon and Monty Panesar with consecutive deliveries, before ending Martin-Jenkins' 10th-wicket stand with Corey Collymore which was worth 47 runs.
