Robert Croft has not been selected to face Lancashire |
Robert Croft has been left out of the Glamorgan side for Friday's Friends Provident Trophy match against Lancashire at Cardiff's Swalec Stadium. The ex-England spinner, 38, has been replaced by 21-year-old batsman cum off-spinner Mike O'Shea in the squad. Croft's comeback to Glamorgan's FP side lasted just one game, Tuesday's loss to Essex, having missed out this season. Four defeats from the first five games have left Glamorgan with no hope of qualifying for the quarter-finals. That is a disappointment for home fans, with two games still to come at the Swalec Stadium and one at St Helens. For Friday's game against Lancashire, O'Shea is capable of giving the Welsh county a third spinning option to add to regular bowlers Dean Cosker and Jamie Dalrymple. "Don't worry about the opposition, what are we doing right or wrong?" is the message from Glamorgan cricket manager Matthew Maynard. "We know about the wicket, we [need to] play a lot better on it."
Glamorgan Dragons squad: GP Rees, MJ Cosgrove, MJ Powell, TL Maynard, JWM Dalrymple (capt), BJ Wright, MP O'Shea, MA Wallace (wk), JAR Harris, RE Watkins, DS Harrison, DA Cosker, GJP Kruger.
