Robert Croft has not played in the FP Trophy yet this season |
Glamorgan look set to recall former England off-spinner Robert Croft in a bid to turn around their form in the Friends Provident Trophy. After three defeats in four games on the road, Glamorgan's last four Group D games are all at home. And Croft is named in the 12 to face Essex in Tuesday's day-nighter (12 May, 1440 BST) as Glamorgan hope a return to Sophia Gardens can turn things round. Croft has so far been left out of Glamorgan's first four group games. Holders Essex are without Ravi Bopara, whose release from England duty on Sunday was for one game only. But they will be in confident mood after going level on points at the top of Group D with Lancashire by beating the leaders convincingly by six wickets at Chelmsford. Coach Paul Grayson has named a 13-man squad, which includes Sunday's main hero Varun Chopra, who made 72. Ironically, Essex's only defeat in the competition so far was against Glamorgan at Chelmsford on 3 May. A century by Gareth Rees, prefaced by a stunning 72 in 36 balls from Aussie Mark Cosgrove, helped the Welshmen chase down a victory target of 298 with four overs to spare.
