Jones is out of contract at the end of the season |
Glamorgan and England's injury-prone fast bowler Simon Jones picked up a calf problem in the County Championship game with Northants at Colwyn Bay. The 28-year-old will play no further part in the match and will also miss Sunday's NatWest Pro40 Division Two game with Somerset at the same ground.
Jones missed most of last season after knee surgery and has been little-used this year because of an inflamed knee.
The paceman is out of contract at Glamorgan at the end of the season.
The Welsh side say they are keen to retain his services, but Jones is likely to miss out on a new England central contract, the details expected to be announced shortly.
He faces a fitness test on Monday to determine whether he is considered for the Championship game against Somerset that starts in Cardiff on Tuesday.
With Glamorgan bowler Huw Waters struggling with an ankle problem, the county are in negotiations to sign left-arm seamer Neil Carter for the rest of the season.
The 32-year-old South African-born Carter has been released by Warwickshire.
Waters is back in contention for Sunday's visit of the Sabres, along with Jimmy Maher who has recovered from a ear infection.
Youngsters Tom Maynard and Mike O'Shea are also included in the squad.
